I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. --Philippians 4:13
Regular Worship Schedule (September to June)
St. Paul's offers two worship services every Sunday.
Our first service is at 8:00 a.m. and is spoken only (no choir). Holy Communion is celebrated at the first service every week.
Our second service is held at 10:30 a.m. and includes music by our senior choir. Holy Communion is celebrated at the second service only on the first and third Sunday of the month.
Sunday School is held every week at 9:00 a.m. and classes are available for all age levels, from preschool to adult. The Sunday School year begins on the Sunday after Labor Day and ends on Mother's Day of the following calendar year.
On a few occasions during the church year, the congregation all worships together at a single service held at 9:00 a.m. This is done in February, for our annual financial meeting; in April or May, for our annual program meeting; and in November, when we observe Commitment Sunday. On Sundays when worship is held at 9:00, there is no Sunday School.
Lenten Services: (Ash Weds. - Maundy Thurs.),
Each year during the Lenten season we hold special midweek services. These begin with a meal provided by one of the church organizations, then continue with a Bible study and finish with worship in either the chapel or the sanctuary.
Join us every Wednesday evening in Fellowship Hall beginning at
6:00 p.m. - Dinner
6:30p.m. - ible Study
7:30p.m. - Worship
Our other special services during Lent are as follows:
Also on Good Friday is the community ecumenical service, held at one of the churches in the Catasauqua Ministerium.
Christmas Services
We have two worship services on Christmas Eve.
The first is at 7:00 p.m. and the second is at 11:00 p.m. Holy Communion is celebrated at both services.
Each individual attending a Christmas Eve service is given a small candle which is lit toward the end of the service, and held aloft during the singing of "Silent Night." You are invited to sing the first verse of "Silent Night" in either English or German, as a tribute to the church's German roots. There is no daytime service on Christmas Eve and no services at all on Christmas Day, unless either of those days happens to fall on a Sunday.
Easter Services
On Easter Sunday, we celebrate with a dawn service at 6:30 a.m. and a second service at 10:30 a.m. Holy Communion is celebrated at both services. In between the services there is a brunch served in Fellowship Hall for the members of the congregation, followed by Sunday School at 9:00.
Summer Worship Schedule (June 19, 2011 -September 4)
St. Paul's worships in the air-conditioned, wheel-chair accessible chapel during the summer months, at 8:00 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. Like the rest of the year, Holy Communion is celebrated at the first service every week and at the second service on the first and third Sunday of the month.
A voluntary family choir provides music at the second service; anyone who wishes to participate is welcome. If you cannot come forward to the altar to receive Communion, please notify an usher and the Pastor will come to you. Offering envelopes are available in each pew for those who need them.
There is no Sunday School between Mother's Day and Labor Day. We make the transition to the summer schedule on the second Sunday in June (usually; check your bulletin or newsletter to make sure).
Each month we collect nonperishable food items for the Catasauqua Ministerium Food Bank. Contributions to the food bank can be placed in the basket in the narthex or brought to the church office during the week.
